A short statement of the literary laws, in the order Asimov gave them.
A robot may not injure a human being or, through inaction, allow a human being to come to harm.
A robot must obey orders given by human beings, except where those orders would conflict with the First Law.
A robot must protect its own existence, as long as doing so does not conflict with the First or Second Law.
These literary principles were introduced by Isaac Asimov. They are not laws of the United States, technical safety standards, or a guarantee of robot safety.
